Soma Videos and The Lord's Prayer

Here is a small portion of one of Philip's sessions with Soma back in May.  I hope it will be of help for anyone working with him.  Click here.

You can see how far he has come from his first time meeting Soma.  Here is some video from Philip's first visit to Soma in October 2012.  Click here.

A couple weeks back, Lia and Philip had a lesson on The Lord's Prayer in Sunday school.  My daughter filled out her own version of it so beautifully that I wanted to see how Philip would do.  Here's what he came up with tonight (I wrote out the words as he spelled).

  1. thank you for posting this. it is so good that he has great pointing skills. did Soma start with pointing on the stencil board with a pencil or did she start with pointer finger? My son SAnjay's pointer finger does not work well at all, and although he can occasionally say the letter, it is too much for him to both say the letter and also point to it using the pencil. I wonder if I should make it a goal for my sessions?
he is such a sweet boy and he reminds me of my son.

    1. Soma started Philip with the pencil too. When I got home and worked with him,, I had a hard time with the pencil, believe it or not. Philip would often put the pencil in his mouth and chomp down as hard as he could. I had so many destroyed/ cracked pencils! Also, he is a stimmy kind and would end up drumming them on the table too! On my own, out of necessity, I had him point. Today, Philip is much better and I even sometimes give him the pencil as a prompt here and there if his pointer gets lazy. As far as having Philip speak the letters, Soma noticed he could do this and pushed him. At home I only have him speak the letters about 10% of the time. Maybe I should push him more to speak too! Wish you were still in Rochester. I would have loved to meet you and Sanjay in person!
