She is learning typing on iPads, and she does pretty well when me or my mom are her CF, but she gets really burnt out pretty quickly. Any advice on how to decrease the stress during practice?
Again, thank you for your blog, it’s truly fantastic!moohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12199121236300490262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2382300540439480296.post-6473872348824693182019-12-01T11:41:31.431-08:002019-12-01T11:41:31.431-08:00Thanks for writing this! Ams how the sensory overload can inhibit speech and influence action. For example, she grabs my hair frequently- with lightning speed and grips so hard I have to peel her hand out (often she pulls out my hair while doing this- it hurts) ; I’ve often said it’s like an automatic thing and she just can’t help herself. It drives me crazy, but I try to stay patient. What's unique about the way it ...I have autism. What's unique about the way it started in me was pretty much like the classic story of "regressive autism." I born normal and I grew up normally and nuerotypically until I like was 18 months old. Before then, I was a fluently verbal, socially engaging toddler. I actually started speaking earlier than the age my NT brother started. But then when I hit around 18 months, I became started becoming socially awkward and disengaged and I started loosing my speech, as my parents noticed. I lost my ability to speak all together just after I turned 2.
Because my dad thought that speaking was the only way he thought I could communicate and understand things, he would pray every day on his way to work that I can speak or at least understand some things, while I was nonverbal. I didn't speak again until I was 6.
Though I'm now fluently, fully verbal again, I too thought that if you're not able to speak, then you can't understand anything. But, the amazing fact that some nonverbal people with autism can be high-functioning and have at least normal nonverbal IQs is amazing.
The fact is EVERBODY NEEDS HELP. Some need more, some need less. But with your case, you need assistance in communicating your voice and communication to people that you understand them and what they say to you. Communication is the key point to understanding one another and even doing everyday things properly.
There are much more ways for nonverbal people like you to communicate, especially in this age of not only computers, but also smart devices, tablets, and even smartphones that can use an AC app.
Do you always have someone to speak for you wherever you go?Dariushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00717736952307307112noreply@blogger.com
